About the CEH

The Community Exchange Hub (CEH) is a charity dedicated to breaking down barriers between Muslim communities and life in the UK, promoting social cohesion and fostering the effective integration of all communities by connecting them to local services, opportunities and politics.

Over the next decade, CEH aims to significantly increase the scale and impact of British Muslim participation in political discourse, access to local services and employment opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Operations:

  • Lead and Innovate: Lead the charity’s day-to-day operations, bringing entrepreneurial energy to adapt and thrive in dynamic environments. Drive programmes and activities and ensure they respond to shifting landscapes or contexts.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Support the development and execution of strategies to create impactful community and media partnerships, amplifying the reach and impact of CEH’s events and activities.
  • Leadership in Growth: Work closely with external consultants to guide and expand CEH’s projects, ensuring sustainable growth.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain proactive communication with stakeholders, addressing issues and fostering strong, collaborative relationships.
  • Goal Alignment: Ensure programme objectives and outcomes align with the overall strategic vision of the organisation and are achievable within set timeframes and budgets.
  • Event Management: Support the planning and delivery of impactful events and programmes that further the organisation’s mission.
  • Data-Driven Improvement: Utilise data to track progress, manage risks, and optimise the effective use of resources and budgets.

Governance:

  • Leadership in Governance: Provide strong leadership to ensure consistent governance across all of the organisation’s activities, including development, delivery, measurement, evaluation, and reporting.
  • Board Engagement: Maintain regular communication with the board, prepare board papers, and actively contribute to Trustee meetings.
  • Frameworks and Policies: Develop, maintain, and ensure adoption of governance frameworks, policies, and templates across the organisation.
  • Risk Management: Implement and maintain risk registers for the organisation and across all programmes.
  • Financial Stewardship: Oversee finances, budgeting, reporting, and record-keeping to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Annual Reporting: Lead the preparation of the organisation’s annual report, showcasing achievements and areas for growth.

External Engagement:

  • Strategic Communications: Lead on the development and implementation of a public affairs and communication plan that aligns with the organisation’s goals and values.
  • Cultivating Partnerships: Build and nurture diverse, reciprocal partnerships across a wide range of stakeholder groups, focused on delivering impact through collaboration.
  • Community Impact: Represent the CEH with community partners to enhance the quality and effectiveness of events and activities, leveraging networks to expand CEH’s reach and reputation.
  • Brand Strengthening: Strengthen CEH’s brand reputation through strategic messaging and social media engagement, maximising impact and reach.
  • Community Empowerment: Identify, create, and develop meaningful opportunities for the CEH to Muslim community empowerment.
  • Network Development: Establish and maintain a robust network of Muslim communities and contacts to support CEH’s work.
  • Critical Communications: Produce briefings and key information for stakeholders, and review reports, submissions, and communications as needed.

CEH is seeking a highly motivated and self-starting Operations Manager who can drive our mission forward.   • Relationship Building: Excellent interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build relationships, influence, and motivate others.
  • Organisational Excellence: Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organisational skills, with a track record of delivering high-quality work on time and within budget.
  • Adaptability: Ability to anticipate and react to change, remaining flexible and adaptive in the face of evolving project needs.
  • Self-Reflection and Growth: A willingness to identify personal strengths and areas for development, with a commitment to continuous learning.

Advantageous:

  • Charity Governance: Knowledge and experience in effective charity governance, particularly within the non-profit sector.
  • Financial Acumen: Solid financial management skills, with experience in managing budgets and resources efficiently.
  • Policy and Campaign Insight: Understanding of the UK policy landscape, especially as it relates to issues affecting students, young people, and Muslim communities.
  • Project Management Expertise: Proven ability to manage complex projects, including budget, timeline, and resource management.
  • Stakeholder Confidence: Experience in liaising with a wide range of stakeholders and project participants, with a focus on impact.
  • Community Focus: Previous work within youth, local communities, or further education sectors is a plus.
  • Safeguarding Knowledge: Understanding of effective safeguarding practices (training can be provided if needed).
  • Relevant Education: An undergraduate or postgraduate degree in a relevant field is desirable.
